The Best Trail Runs In Jindabyne

The mountains are one of the best places for challenging yourself on trails.
With the incredible scenery, abundance of wildlife and world class single track, Jindabyne is one of Australia’s best destinations for trail running.

With the cool mountain air, challenging elevation and pristine wilderness the Snowy Mountains are a destination you don’t want to miss if you love to run.



Being such a Mecca for running, Jindabyne now boasts several trail running events through the summer for you to challenge yourself. Whether you’re a beginner to the sport or a seasoned Ultra runner, there is something for everyone with a 5k, 10k, 12K, Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon races.

Our Favourite Trails



Whether visiting for a race or just in Jindbayne for a getaway, here are our Favorite trail running tracks close by for some fun or for alpine training.

Waterfall Track.


A trail with variety of terrain, 6km loop, ups and downs, beautiful waterfall half way to take a break at, can be done in about 30-45 mins. Great in the late afternoon. Just past the National Park gates at Sawpit creek campground.
Dedicated to Foot traffic - No Bikes

Main Range Track.


A true mountain experience. Reach some of Australias highest summits and take in the expansive views from atop of the Main Range. With challenging climbs, a mix of pavers, fire trail and single track. Also includes crossing the iconic snowy river. 21km Loop from Charlottes Pass.

Mill Creek Trail


Directly from Jindabyne, this trail runs over the Damn wall to the other side of the lake to Tyrolean Village. Take in views of the Lake, mountains and Jindabyne town as you take on a few climbs a mellow descents. For some extra fun, take some of the off shoot side tracks that offer extra technicality and link back up to the main track.

Dead Horse Gap Trail


A fun high paced descent. Take the Chairlift up at Thredbo and run all the way down and around Dead Horse Gap. Run along the peaks and down through the snowgums all the way winding down to the valley floor. Finish off with a great run along the river back to Thredbo for a well earned rest.
Foot Traffic only

Hatchery Bay Trail


Another fantastic trail accessible directly from the town of Jindabyne. This track goes the other way out of town towards the Trout Hatchery on the road to Perisher. Run along the lakeside through grazing land and enjoy the serenity. A mainly flat trail with some twists and turns it is a scenic and enjoyable trail that links up with the main walking path in Jindabyne.
A longer distance challenge as a return track with Approx 20km return.
No need to run the whole way there and back as there is a bunch of great spots to stop and enjoy the lake views, grab a drink and sit on a park bench before the return run.
